What's the most you've received from class action settlements? Was it worth it?

I just got a check for 15 cents from a class action settlement and laughed when I saw the amount. I almost don't even feel like bothering to deposit it lol. I will of course since money is still money, it just feels so silly to have a check for 15 cents! I'm not even sure I could buy a gum ball for 15 cents.  ;D

Fortunately this one I was opted in automatically without having to fill out any forms so it didn't take any of my time to participate. But it does make me feel like it's not worth filling out any paperwork or forms in the future for other class action suits that do require action on my part in order to be included.

What's the smallest and largest payment you ever received from a class action settlement?

Do you take the time to participate in every one you're notified about or just the ones that are automatic and don't require you to do anything?

Oh boy I'd laugh and feel silly with a check for 15 cents too! But you're right that money is still money. I think the most I've received in my whole life combined is probably $50, maybe $60. The biggest payment was around $30 I think and I can't even remember what company it was from bc it was so long ago. Most of the payments I've received have been around $3-5 or in the form of a product credit.

I used to fill out every form I was notified about. If I got one now I'd probably only do it if I thought I'd get more than $5 because I'm much busier now with a toddler running around. It's nice how some of the payment opt ins are automatic now and only require action if you want to opt out.

Hey that's pretty good! I'd be happy getting a check for $30.  :D Sure beats 15 cents haha  Thanks for the reply.

There's currently a pending CAS that's due to pay likely in Q1 2019 regarding American Airlines' improperly handling checked bag fees. I got a notice about it in July. According to the settlement terms:

QuoteRefunds will range from $18.75 to $200.00 plus interest, for each incorrectly charged checked bag, depending on the amount you paid to check the bag.

I personally have no idea what I'm entitled to here, but could see this easily stretching into the hundreds of dollars, as nearly five years worth of improperly assessed bag fees are in limbo.

Received,625 several years back from Sears. It was from something to do with their credit cards and interest. I would say that was worth it. Just had to opt in by mailing a post card back.

It seems like I get a class action notice a couple of time a year.  I just toss them.  They seem to need time and records to complete.  Time is money too.  I may be throwing millions away but I hedge that action with my lottery tickets.

Oh, about $78,000.  Yep, that's right 78k. when I bought a house 39 years ago, the seller failed to disclose that the house was in the flight path and crash path of the navy jets. LOUD.  Understand LOUD!!

So, a bunch of people filed a class action suit against the govt, and we all got a settlement for this.

Va Beach, VA, home of Oceana Naval Air Station, and scores of nearly deaf people.

The next biggest was about $900, followed by around a hundred.

I would say that they are worth it
