What are some of the best books you have read in Personal Finance, Real Estate, and Entrepreneurship?

In terms of real estate development and investments, The Real Book of Real Estate by Robert Kiyosaki is great.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is great for personal finance.

I know that Rich Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is an eye opening book for many. For me, The Millionaire Mind from Thomas Stanley had one of the greatest influence on me. Dr Thomas Stanley was the author of the famous Millionaire Next Door and this was his second book. He died from a car accident in Marrietta, Georgia in 2012. I think I read the book when I was 24-25 and still I reference back to it today.

The book profiles the mindset and habits of real Deca millionaires. Their success factors, school days, risks, how they found their ideal profitable vocation. Chapter 6 is choice of Spouse which is 40 pages long of the qualities of these deca millionanires looked for in their future wives. Chapter 6 was my blue print of what I looked for in my future spouse. I highly recommend for any of you single men aspiring to be multi-millionaires one day to read that chapter alone.

Currently reading Principles by Ray Dalio. About 2/3 finished and another excellent book.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad.  It's exactly what popped in to my head when I read the title of this thread.  That is easily my favorite book and the one that truly changed my thinking when it comes to money.  It's great that people here get it.  When I mention it to some others, they tend to chuckle a little bit.  As if it's not intellectual enough or something.  But they totally miss the point.  Growing up, there is essentially no teaching about finances.  You read the books and the concepts sound so simple - why do I need a book to explain this to me?  But it's true, we are just not wired through our education system to have financial knowledge.  And Robert does such a great job of changing the way you view money, jobs, investing, etc.  It was a game changer and I credit much of my success to it.  Cashflow quadrant was also outstanding.

Another book I enjoyed is The Midas Touch by Trump and Kiyosaki.  It's right in the tagline for the book, but it helps elaborate on exactly what it says.  Why some are so successful and others are not.  It's the details.  And changing the way you view business, and understanding what makes a business successful is another massive game changer.  I'm at the point now where it's second nature.  Totally learned.  I could be successful with just about any business.  And I'd be a successful employee, too, if I had to!

I am currently re-reading Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. He is an FBI hostage negotiator who has molded his experience into ways to negotiate most deals. There are tons of books on negotiation but this book is definitely unique.

I am terrible at negotiating. It makes me a nervous wreck leading up to the date. I never thought I had a handle on the approach to getting a great deal. This book is helping me to see the process in a positive light and to understand the emotional responses that both sides have in deal making, and how to take advantage of that. I am surprised by my feelings now. I sort of look forward to an opportunity to try out his techniques. I want to sell a 10 acre plot of land to a neighbor and want to not go into this agreement blindly.

Hands down, Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely.

Dan Ariely is a behavioral economist at Duke University. This book takes you into the fascinating and sometimes shocking social experiments which you will reference in your mind time and time again, when you are on the verge of making a decision involving money, in any capacity.

This book impacted my behavior moreso than anything I've ever read. The knowledge gleaned raised my hackles when a slick mortgage broker was luring me into a bad trap that would have lined his pockets. It also taught me how to correctly ask friends for help moving a piece of furniture.  It even explains why anyone can make a moronic decision when highly charged with hormones.

I consider this to be a financial foundation book, one to absorb in order to set filters in place before venturing out into financial decision making land.

I really enjoyed Your Money or Your Life. It really set me up to pursue financial independence and get our finances on track.

I also liked Millionaire Next Door.

A few of my personal favorites in the entrepreneurship/business category (no particular order):

- The 4-Hour Workweek (Tim Ferriss)
- The Lean Startup (Eric Ries)
- The Innovator's Dilemma (Clayton Christensen)
- The Innovator's Solution (Clayton Christensen)
- Good To Great (Jim Collins)
- Built To Last (Jim Collins)

Kendall, I read Never Split the Difference last year and really enjoyed it. While it's not specifically about negotiating, if you're looking for a great book to improve your influence over others (and yourself) read Nudge by Richard Thaler.

Great list! I read several of those during business school. Helps open your mind to what's possible and to go for it.
