Any platforms that offer investing in hotels? I think CrowdStreet has an offering. What has your experience been?

Speaking of hotels, how about buying the Chrysler Building and turning it into a hotel?

A crowd-funder like RealtyMogul should have been bidding on that deal. It's incredible that they were able to buy it for less than 5X annual gross rents. Maybe the lease terms for the land make it considerably less attractive, but Signa Holding certainly made a better buy than the Abu Dhabi Investment Council!

Personally I would avoid investing in hotels like the plague especially at this part of the economic cycle.

Hotels are operationally intensive with a ton of room for operator error.  Only the very best and more experience operators should even be considering.

Hotels are very exposed to the economic cycle as their “rents” get repriced every day.

The only time I would consider investing in a hotel would be in the throes of an economic downturn.  Otherwise I avoid...
