Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card Review: No Annual Fee

If you love to travel and don't like to pay an annual fee, the Capital One VentureOne credit card is right up your alley. Cardholders get 1.25X miles per dollar on all purchases every single day.

In order to qualify for this great travel rewards credit card, you will likely need a credit score of 690 – 850, which is categorized as good or excellent. If your credit score is below 690, take a look at the best credit cards for folks with lower credit scores. You'll still find a great selection of cards based on our hand-picked curation as you build your credit score back up.

As someone who has traveled to over 60 countries and lived abroad for 15 years, I really appreciate good travel. I'm also obsessed with getting and using a great travel rewards credit card for more free travel and other great benefits.

Let's take a look at the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card in more detail.

Capital One VentureOne Rewards Snapshot

  • Enjoy $0 annual fee and no foreign transaction fees when you travel abroad.

  • Travel when you want where you want. No blackout dates, fly any airline, stay at any hotel, whenever you want.

  • Enjoy great travel protection, including travel accidental insurance, rental car coverage, and extended warranty on eligible items.

The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is considered the little brother of the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card. The VentureOne card doesn't have an annual fee, but the rewards are a bit less robust.

For those of you who travel only occasionally, the VentureOne credit card is a more appropriate choice.

Reasons To Get The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Card

Save On Fees and Interest

If you only travel 1-3 times a year, the VentureOne Rewards card is great because there is $0 annual fee. You don't have to feel pressured to fly anywhere to justify the card. I personally hate paying fees for anything. Further, I only fly two times a year on average because I have young children to take care of.

There are also no foreign transaction fees when you travel internationally and use the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card.

Finally, with the introductory 0% APR offer for 12 months, you have plenty of time to pay off any large purchases. As far as travel credit cards go, getting a 0% APR introductory offer is not very common, but VentureOne Rewards delivers.

It's Easy To Redeem Points

When it comes to redeeming points, the VentureOne Rewards card is as flexible and straight forward as it gets for a travel card. Miles are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for travel. And you can redeem three ways:

  • Use your miles to book travel through Capital One's travel platform.
  • Use your card to pay for travel, and then redeem your miles for statement credit against the expense.
  • Transfer your miles to over 10 leading travel loyalty programs.

The Ideal Profile Of A Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card Holder

If you still can't decide whether this no annual fee travel rewards credit card is right for you, consider the following bullet points below.

If at least three bullet points describe you, then you are an ideal candidate for the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card.

  • You get on a plane 1 – 4 times a year, and not much more.
  • The credit cards you like have no annual fee.
  • The flexibility of 1.25% base rewards automatically on every purchase is appealing to you.
  • You're a fan of the Capital One brand, messaging, and overall customer service.
  • Each month you plan to spend less than $1,060 on your card. If you spend a lot more than $1,060 a month, then consider the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card because it gives you 2X miles per dollar spent (60% higher).
  • Responsible spending is your priority and you usually pay off your entire credit card balance on-time each month.
  • You want to make a large purchase and would enjoy taking advantage of the 0% introductory APR fee for 12 months.
  • Diversity, culture, language, and great food are important to you.

Consider A Cash Back Credit Card Too

A Cash Back Credit Card Is the Best Type Of Credit Card To Own

In addition to the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, you should also consider a great cash back rewards credit card as well.

Cash provides the ultimate flexibility to spend on whatever you want, including helping pay down some or all of your next statement balance.

My favorite cash back credit card is the Capital One Quicksilver Credit Card because it provides unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases.

You get a one-time $200 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within three months from account opening. Finally, there is also no annual fee!

Final Verdict

Capital One is one of the best credit card companies around because creating great credit cards to fit your lifestyle is their speciality.

If you’re looking for a low-cost travel card with no annual fee, the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is a great choice.

Pay Off Your Credit Card Debt Faster With A Personal Loan

If you don’t have enough cash, getting a personal loan from Credible is a good place to start. If you have expensive credit card debt, consider consolidating your debt into a lower interest-rate personal loan.

Credible has the most comprehensive marketplace for personal loans. Lenders compete for your business so you can get the best rate. Get personalized prequalified personal loan rates in just two minutes after you fill out an application.

Prequalified rates are based on the information you provide and a soft credit inquiry. Receiving prequalified rates does not guarantee that the Lender will extend you an offer of credit. You are not yet approved for a loan or a specific rate. All credit decisions, including loan approval, if any, are determined by Lenders, in their sole discretion. Rates and terms are subject to change without notice. Rates from Lenders may differ from prequalified rates due to factors which may include, but are not limited to: (i) changes in your personal credit circumstances; (ii) additional information in your hard credit pull and/or additional information you provide (or are unable to provide) to the Lender during the underwriting process; and/or (iii) changes in APRs (e.g., an increase in the rate index between the time of prequalification and the time of application or loan closing. (Or, if the loan option is a variable rate loan, then the interest rate index used to set the APR is subject to increases or decreases at any time). Lenders reserve the right to change or withdraw the prequalified rates at any time.
